Production Work

Homework: Write a paragraph explaining why the reebok advertisement was banned.

In my view, i think the advertisement was banned for many different reason. Firstly, because the portrayal of 50 cent which is as a 'Cool' survivor of gun crime which gives a bad impression towards children who want to buy Reebok. Another reason was that the signifiers which was used to connote that violence is something to laugh about it. The signifier is when 50 cent laughs about violence connoting that violence is cool and calm if you wear Reebok. Again which portrays 50 cent as a bad role model. The main impression of the advertisment is that it show a glamorised gun culture. This could encourage violence or make violence acceptable. By showing the violence which had occured in 50 cent life could of likely to be interpreted by younger viewers as suggesting this type of lifestyle was something to look up to. As people of this age are especially susceptible to external influences on thier behaviour. These were the main complaints and was why the advertisment was bannned.

Production Planning

I am going to include action into my advert because of the results.

What is your favourite advert at the moment?

Do You like to see celebrities endorsing products in adverts?

People enjoy celebrites so this will help me by showing that viewers are interested in celebrites.

Homework- Secondary Research

In the advertisement there are many lines of appeal. However the are lines of appeal which are more appealing to the a certain type of audience. A line of appeal is the factory. It is set out in a fun and lively environment. The music added to the advertisement is a signifier which connotes a happy tone towards it. This is aimed at children. A line of persuasion could be at the end of the advert where the laptop is wrapped like a sweet connoting that the laptop is as nice as a sweet and addicting as them. A line of appeal could be the song which is used. If the viewer is enjoying the song they will concentrate on the advert and would probably interested. The song used is a well known classic therefore many viewers enjoy it. Another line of appeal could be the different colours shown which can be purchased for the laptop. The colours shown are the ordinary; pink, red, blue etc. This could be appealing towards female viewers because of the colourful laptops. Females are more interested in colours then Males therefore this would be appealing.

Extension:

I think the 'Dell' advertisement reverts to 'Mainstreamers'. This is because they are very well known and the adverts show the best of the product. Also they have value of money such as; at the end of the advertisment it shows the money in a star shape and it says 'Only' above it suggesting it is very cheap. Therefore this advert is to seek security.

Lauren Brennan, 14 Pudsey.

Cadburys eyebrows.

Lauren likes to see good looking men in adverts as they catch her eye and make it interesting. She sometimes likes to have a narrative unless it gets boring. Lauren likes to see celebrities because they are sometimes a good role model and make good impressions towards the product. The advert that has caught my eye in the past is the B N B N advert because it has a catchy tune :)

The factors of persuasion which has been used by hermeren are that if you have a honda you will have a postive benefit. This is reward power.

Target Audience of this advert could be towards vehicles fans. They can be presuade by the different lines of appeals.

Fezan Mazhar, 12, Student, Calverley
Favourite Advert: Babies RollerBlade advert.

Fezan likes to see funny characters in adverts, ones that make him laugh. He doesnt generally like seeing celebrites in adverts but he doesnt mind if they are. He likes narrative in adverts so that the advert makes sense and it is easier to understand the product. Adverts which have caught Fezans eye in the past have been the 'Dell' advert mainly because of the music which has been used in it. He says the music adds alot more enjoyment to the advert and alot more understanding.

Advert Proposal

Our idea is to advertise Usher however we want to in co-operate Coca Cola into the advert. There are two ways where we can do this. Our idea was to have usher being really stiff and not be able to dance. However, he see the Coke and drinks it and is able to dance and is really flexible. On the other hand we had a other idea, that usher is really thirsty and drinks the coke connoting the Cokes out of the world with taste.

Advert Treatment

I have chosen the 1st idea as my proposal. I believe my advert has the following lines of appeal, elite people along with successful careers. This is to give the viewer something to keep tune in for in our case the females. It has this of appeal because in my advert Usher is there to keep the viewers tuned in to the advert especially the fans of Usher. I also hope to reflect the line of appeal glamorous places as i will include Usher being in a vila or some glamorous place in a hot country. My advert will have the following factors of persuasion; reward power and expert power. I will use these factors of persuasion because this will engage the audience throughout the advert and persuades the viewers to buy the product.

My primary target audience for my advert is people who are into modern music such as R n B and also likes coca cola. I will also have a secondary target audience of my advert is the parents of the teenagers to make sure the music used in the advert is suitable and also so to check of the soft drink (Coca Cola) is not too unhealthy. There are a variety of camera shots going to be in my advert and some of them are: low angle shots of usher feet dancing- this is because it gives the effect of Usher being a great dancer and gives more of a impact and a close up of the brilliant dance which Usher pulls off.

The main characters in my advert are Usher so show his dancing. I have chosen to represent the characters in this way as to promote Usher dancing and also to give the reward power of that usher gets all his strength from the soft drink 'Coca Cola'. The advert will have many sounds included to support the images, these includes the music of Usher again to promote the new single from him.

COURSEWORK

At the beginning of the advertisement. There is the young boy wearing some olden times clothes. This is one of the main signifiers, this connotes the time era. The camera shot which is used is a medium shot showing the boys expression and the clothes he is wearing. An other signifier is the voice of the baker, this connotes the area of which the company was established in,which was in the north side of England. The camera shot for this is Medium long shot showing also the bakers clothes but not mainly his expressions. By just seeing his type of clothes we know that he is a baker and it might give the viewer a in sight that it is something to do with bread.
After this, the child runs out side. The carriage with a horse is a signifier and connotes that there were no cars around so it is around the time of victoria era still but a bit later on. Additionly, the music adds to the advertisement effects. throughout the advertisement the non-diegetic music gets loud and more instrument is added, as his pace of running gets faster and faster.
